Pets of VUMC 2018 — Collection #5: What could go wrong?
Trouble waiting to happen. Sometimes it's already occurred.

This is the fifth collection of photographs submitted by VUMC employees to the 2018 “VUMC Voice” Pet Photo Contest.
The first collection, called “Duos,” was published in April.
The second collection, called “Dogs and their people,” was published in May.
The third collection, vol. 1 of “Dogs! Cats! Beds! Sofas!” was published in June.
The fourth collection, vol. 2 of “Dogs! Cats! Beds! Sofas!” was published in July
Almost 600 (!) photographs were submitted for the contest. (Remember — the top prize we offer in the contest is a photo of your pet shared in “VUMC Voice.”) And while we won’t be able to use all, or even most, of the pictures we received, we hope to showcase a good sample of the best of the beasts.
If you didn’t send in an entry this year, and your pet is peeved at you about it, please reassure him or her that there will be a “VUMC Voice” Pet Photo Contest next year, but explain that the deadline for entries for this year has passed, and no more pictures will be accepted. We hope your pet understands.

Anise Elie, Health Policy. Rocket.
Izabella Plotnick, Pathology. “Barkley is a doxie-poo (half dachshund, half poodle). I rescued him from a shelter in Glasgow, Kentucky, and he is 3 years old. He plays with his toys until they’re completely shredded, and has no fear going up to dogs five times his size. He makes me laugh every day. Rescuing Barkley is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
Jennifer Brown, The Vanderbilt Clinic Outpatient Pharmacy. “I volunteered at the animal shelter and swore I would never adopt a dog until I saw Miya. I took her home the first day I saw her and she has been by my side ever since. She LOVES to dig holes and bury her bones and she HATES being told no.”
Megan McCollum, Neurology. “These are our cats Hilo (all white one) and Kona (orange/white). They are named after the Hawaiian cities we visited on our honeymoon. I like to call this photo ‘the Michelangelo.’ It was taken when they first met.”

Leah Holmberg, Urologic Surgery. “Zoe was adopted from Adopt a Golden Nashville at just 4 months old. Her hobbies include naps, swimming, tug-of-war, and lots of belly rubs. She wishes her people would cool it on the PDA.”
Lesa Daugherty, Clinical Application Support. “Ghost is an all-white Siberian Husky with piercing blue eyes. He is a rescue puppy; he was covered in fleas, had hair loss from mange, worms, and was underweight. Now, he is thriving, energetic, happy and healthy.”
