This is the third installment of photographs submitted by VUMC employees to the 2019VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest. Hundreds of pictures were submitted for the contest, and while we won’t be able to use all, or even most, of the pictures we received, we hope to showcase a good sample of the best of the beasts.

Remember, the top prize offered in the contest is a photo of your pet in VUMC Voice.

If you missed sending in an entry this year, and your pet is peeved about it, please reassure him or her that there will be a VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest next year, but explain that the deadline for entries for this year has passed, and no more pictures will be accepted. We hope your pet understands.

Bobbie L. Vance, Heart And Vascular Institute. “Dixie, a 3.5 lb. teacup Chihuahua, and Maggie, a 100-lb. Rottweiler. The little dog runs the show.”

Tonya Yarbrough, Vanderbilt Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. “Tilly is silver and Milly is beige. They are sisters who are never far apart.”

Fernanda Maruri, Infectious Diseases. “My PLabs (pitbull/Labs): Charley (left, 13 years old) and Snoopdog (right, 9 years old). Both are former strays/rescue dogs.”

Sarah French, Medicare, Managed Care/Tricare. “Floki and Lagertha, two peas in a pod.”

Daniel Cottrell, Internal Medicine. “Charm (age 4, left) and Coaster (right, age 9), greyhounds, watching from car as my wife Meredith rides her horse Giorgio (in the window reflection).”

Andrea Forte, Central Supply, Children’s Hospital. “Buddy is a 9-month-old Lab-red coon hound-Siberian husky mix. Apollo is a 10-year-old German shepard-Lab mix who still has the energy to keep up with the young one.”

Kristy Stafford, PACU. “Max (tabby) and Mason (gray and white) were left in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit’s family bathroom in a milk crate in June, 2001. I adopted both from the hospital when they were about 8 weeks old.”

Megan Trombly, Disease Management. “Stella is a playful pup who enjoys walks, while her brother Sparticus just wants to cuddle and give kisses as much as possible. They are brother and sister and flew back to Tennessee with me from Vermont as a surprise Christmas present for my kids.”

Michelle Ayotte, Clinical Administration. “Zoey and Zeus are 6-month-old blue tick heelers. Zoey has the black patch. We adopted brother and sister as they were the last of the litter that no one wanted. They never stop smiling even in their sleep!”

Chelsy Jaramillo, Cytogenics Lab. “Piper is a miniature schnauzer, age 10. I adopted her 6 years ago from a shelter in Texas. She used to be grumpy and hated other animals. Two years ago, Fiona (tabby cat) arrived into our peaceful lives to create havoc. After a series of unfortunate events, mostly chasing the kitty through mom’s closet, they became the closest of friends.”

Jennifer Luther, Clinical Trials Processing Core. “The Saint Bernard is Mozart, 2 years old; the tabby is Loki, 1 year old. Mozart loves to turn Loki into a wet cotton ball from kisses.”

Lou Kaelin, Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute. “This is Brooks, our 7-year-old Yorkshire terrier. She loves to visit her bird cousin, Tucky, when she can. We call it watching Bird TV — she can sit for hours watching this bird.”

Becky Shattuck-Brandt, Pharmacology. “Ellie the beagle was adopted from Metro Animal Control; Snuffie the rabbit was adopted from Clover Patch Sanctuary.”

Shayna Hipson, Interpreter Services. “Suzy is the bunny with the pink ears and Wallace is the gray-eared rabbit. They are in love! Wallace has a nose condition that makes him sneeze and Suzy loves to sleep — so their nicknames are ‘Sneezy and Snoozy.’ They are both rescues and they are spoiled beyond belief. Their favorite treat is bananas and they love playing tag with each other.”

Richard Wilson, Health IT. “Hope (5 years old), Harley (2), Lola (4).”

Gwen Chaney, Health Information Management. Peeta, Ginger and Novi.

Tammy Tankersley, Pediatric Surgery. “River (white), Raine (puppy) and Brady Jane (middle girl). They are all golden retrievers, and they love to swim and play and go for walks. Baby Raine thinks he is in charge of his brother and sister.”

Renea Jones, Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute. “Golden retrievers David (14 years old); Charlie (2); Rudi (1); Jack (2) Jack and Charlie are brothers.”
