Pets of VUMC Collection #6: Great outdoors
Pets of the wide open spaces -- with green grass, high tides, amber waves of grain and the occasional flotation device.

Lacie Favret, Performance Management and Improvement at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. “Dolly is a German shorthaired pointer puppy. She and our mailman are besties and play fetch every day.”
This is the sixth installment of photographs submitted by VUMC employees to the VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest. Hundreds of pictures were submitted for the contest, and while we won’t be able to use all, or even most, of the pictures we received, we hope to showcase a good sample of the best of the beasts.
Some of the photos will be in themed collections such as this one and some will be featured as a VUMC Pet of the Day in editions of MyVUMC.
Remember, the top prize offered in the contest is a photo of your pet in VUMC Voice.
If you missed sending in an entry this year, and your pet is peeved about it, please reassure him or her that there will be a future VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest, but explain that the deadline for entries for this year has passed, and no more pictures will be accepted. We hope your pet understands.

Desirée A. Shouse, Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center. “This is Penelope Peach (aka Penny). She is a 1 year old, 37-lb. Australian cattle dog mix who loves adventure, treats, and snuggles.”
Jenn Ethridge, Pediatric Cardiac ICU. “This is Ivy. She is 5 years old and is a goldendoodle. She’s the sweetest girl and she sucks her thumb when she sleeps.”
Melissa Wohlers, Cardiothoracic Anesthesia. “Sweet Josie girl is a 15-month-old chocolate Lab.”
Sophie Watkins, Respiratory Care. “Margaux loves fetch, tug of war, and playing with kiddos. She’s 10 years old, but she has puppy energy all day.”
Heiler Sweely, VICC, Clinical Trials Processing Core. “Tilly enjoys sunsets, long walks in the grass, and snoring loudly on the couch afterward.”
Jessica Licup, Adult Emergency Department. “Macey is a 4-year-old goldendoodle. She loves to go play at the dog park with all her 4-legged friends. She loves all the head scratches, belly rubs and treats.”
Jennifer Micham, Rare Disease Clinical Protocol Curator. “Rook is a 4-year-old, 130-lb. Bernese mountain dog. Rook loves meeting people, casual strolls, and temperatures below 40 degrees.”
Chrissy Boaglio, Emergency Department, Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital. Alki Honeymuzzle is a 3-year-old golden Aussie who loves a good paw massage and pup cup.”
Kyra McComas, Radiation Oncology. “Poppy is an Australian shepherd who is fiercely loyal, lovable, and full of endless energy!”
Ashley Schaub, 9 North, VUH. “My dog’s name is Kahlua. She is a Catahoula leopard dog/Laborador mix. She is 8. My husband and I adopted her from the Seattle humane society when she was 3. She loves to swim and go camping with us and she howls when my daughter plays the harmonica. She is the sweetest!”
Roberta Norris, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. “This is our dog Jaxson, a 19-month-old chocolate Lab whom we’ve had since he was 8 weeks old. He will do almost anything to play a fetch with a rubber ball.”
MaryAnn Jorissen, Cardiac Surgery Stepdown. “Gidget always greets with a toy.”
Alecia Arnall, Patient Access Registration. “Remi is 2 years old and is a purebred Rottweiler. She loves being outdoors, hiking, and playing fetch with her squeaky ball. She is goofy and has a big personality that is always making me laugh!”
Michelle Ayotte, CEO & Dean’s Office. “This is Blanton, our 1-year-old bulldog. He loves to spend the day at the lake and his evenings around a campfire.”
Alison Mason, Primary Care Clinic at Monroe Carell. “We adopted Chewie from the Nashville Humane Association in 2018. Chewie was one of the animals flown in from Florida who had survived Hurricane Michael. He had experienced some unknown trauma during the hurricane and had to have his right eye removed but that has never slowed him down. He has been the center of our world since adoption and has been a wonderful addition to our little family. We truly hope that he feels that he is living his best life now!”

Barbara Beeson, Vanderbilt Surgery Center Franklin. “Winston is an adorable Chorki (Chihuahua Yorkie) with a huge personality even though he’s only 7 lbs!”
Debbie Emory-Utzig, Emeritus Office. “Mia is a 13-year-old rescue who loves glamping with her humans, nature walks by water, and never-ending snuggles.”
Rose Schwartz, Respiratory Therapy. “Louie is an exceptionally smart, good boy! We must spell words because he is always listening.”

Pam Baggott, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency. “This beautiful boy was found on the streets and put in a shelter. One of my residents was fostering him until he had a home and that home became mine six years ago. He’s calm, cool, collected 24/7. Regal at all times – he fits the name he was given: Sir Rodney.”
