Pets of VUMC 2019 — collection #2: Summertime pets

Those lazy, hazy, crazy pets of summer

by June 30, 2019

Cristie Hennis, Center for Health Information Management. “Shea is our yellow Labrador, and this was taken the day we got her, July 4th.”

This is the second installment of photographs submitted by VUMC employees to the 2019 VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest. Hundreds of pictures were submitted for the contest, and while we won’t be able to use all, or even most, of the pictures we received, we hope to showcase a good sample of the best of the beasts.

Remember, the top prize offered in the contest is a photo of your pet in VUMC Voice.

The first collection, “Pets and their people,” is here.

If you missed sending in an entry this year, and your pet is peeved about it, please reassure him or her that there will be a VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest next year, but explain that the deadline for entries for this year has passed, and no more pictures will be accepted. We hope your pet understands.

Watch for the next installment of VUMC Voice‘s Pets of VUMC 2019 — coming soon.

Liz Roelofsz, Molecular Pathogenesis. “Robo likes to roam around outside a lot, he loves to hunt moles — which we appreciate.”

Janet Blackwell, Neurosurgery of Franklin at Royal Oaks. “Bailey, a 3-month-old golden retriever, loves everyone.”

Sarah Marbach, Training and Change Management. “Cooper is a rescue that we’ve had for 8 years who loves to be outside in the sun or lying in your lap.”

Jason Steffens, eStar Training and Delivery. “Kyra loves going on walks, getting lots of pets from as many people as she can, and as you can see, sitting outside.”

Dawn Forhetz, Cool Springs Rheumatology/Infusion. “Dawson is only 5 lbs. but thinks he is a huge Super Dog who can leap tall buildings in a single bound.”

Russell Leftwich, Biomedical Informatics. “Lila is a 3-year-old cocker spaniel.”

Christine Lovly, Medicine. “Teagan, aka Mr. T, is 7-year-old boxer. He was born deaf but he knows sign language. He came from Middle Tennessee Boxer Rescue. He brings joy every day.”

Kris Ellis, Vanderbilt Diabetes Center. “The grass is always greener on the opposite side of the fence. Best friends Gemini and Paris hunt for fresh clover.”

Jennifer Schoenbeck, VMG Patient Access Services. “Sprinkles is a rescue dog that we adopted 2 years ago. She loves long walks, car rides, and cuddling.”

Misty Beechum, Pharmacy. “Ally the English bulldog loves car rides more than anything. This picture was the car ride she went on for her birthday.”

Tracy Bradley, Neurology. “Duke is a 2-year-old Labrador. He loves to swim in the Koi pond, hunt ducks and play ball for hours.”

Erin Collar, Critical Illness, Brain Dysfunction, and Survivorship Center. “My husband and I adopted our miniature poodle Ellie (7) after her previous owner went to a nursing home and could no longer care for her. She is smart, sweet, and playful. Ellie is now an integral part of our family, so of course she included on family vacations. Here she is enjoying the beach in San Diego.”

Lyndi Hopkins, Pediatrics. “Max is a 2-year-old shetland sheepdog. He loves looking cool.”
