Center for Health Information Management’s Phronda Buckley goes above and beyond to help others

Phronda Buckley, Health Information Management (HIM) Revenue Cycle Data Intelligence Analyst, received a Credo Award at the recent Clinical Enterprise Leadership Assembly for going above and beyond in her work as well as helping others.
Credo Awards, given quarterly, honor employees who exemplify the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Credo: “We provide excellence in healthcare, research and education. We treat others as we wish to be treated. We continuously evaluate and improve our performance.” Winners of the Credo Award receive $500 and an Elevate gift bag.
“Phronda is an outstanding example of making those she serves her highest priority, conducting herself professionally, respecting privacy and confidentiality, having a great sense of ownership, communicating effectively, and most definitely, is amazingly committed to her colleagues.”
An example of why Buckley won the award: when a co-worker sought advice from Buckley for a way to create a computer database related to Epic implementation, she received more than tips.
From Buckley’s nomination letter: “She didn’t just give me advice; she built a database for our project. She took time outside of her very busy workload to take on a very time- consuming task.
“She even worked nights and weekends to ensure it was completed within a week of the start of the project. She was there for us through the entire project…As a result of her hard work and dedication, we were able to exceed the goal set for our team prior to Go Live.”
In another instance, Buckley helped a sick co-worker get the care she needed and helped with work duties where possible.

Buckley was modest in acknowledging the praise of her colleagues.
“I felt honored to be recognized at such a high level of esteem by my peers. I am thankful for the opportunity to serve and do so with great sincerity and integrity to provide service to others with respect and a commitment to Vanderbilt’s credo,” she said.

Employees demonstrate credo behaviors when: they make those they serve the highest priority; respect privacy and confidentiality; communicate effectively; conduct themselves professionally; have a sense of ownership; and are committed to their colleagues. Elevate award nominations are accepted year round. If a nomination is received after the cut off for quarterly award selection, the nomination will be considered for the next quarter.
